Say Hello
02:38
|
|
||
Goodbyes are hard you know
Always try to let things go
Goodbyes are hard you know
But first you say hello
You can't find a prince without kissing a frog
You can't know a tree if you always cut it down to a log
You could be hanging out with your friends
and you pray that the party never ends
Can't we just pretend
Can't we change time
Can't we take a moment that's sufficiently sublime
Turn a magic trick to make it last a lifetime
Goodbyes are hard you know
Always try to let things go
Goodbyes are hard you know
But first you say hello
They say if you love something let it go
Well you know
It's not as easy as it sounds
Cause when that love is found
Happiness resounds, worldliness is won
Desolation's done
Everything can run
Yeah, on and on yeah you wanna hold on
To every moment making life brighter than the sun
Goodbyes are hard you know
Always try to let things go
Goodbyes are hard you know
But first you say hello
Here's a little story:
My family was here, I got to drink beer
We hung around town didn't need to see the pier
Anywhere anytime you could see us
You'd see a happy family and that's because
We love each other
Father sister mother brother
We made a connection
But there's no protection
from my heart falling out when they left at the end of the week
Goodbyes are hard you know
Always try to let things go
Goodbyes are hard you know
But first you say hello

Be Me
02:44
|
|
||
If I was set free and I could be anyone I wanted to be
If I was set free, I'd still be me
I remember when I was a kid
I tried to conform and keep myself hid
From the world but the world would not let me
They said we need a real person not just some wanna be
So I dressed not to impress and I sang the way I want
and if you know what I mean then let your freak flag flaunt
in the morning in the daytime in the nighttime too
If you just let go you can really be you
I look into the mirror, I look at myself
and I like what I see especially when I dress well
I mean at least I'm in peace but you know I'm at war
with any judging joe who says I can't be me anymore
Explore those poor sad saps that refuse to dance
Steer clear of peers' jeers, stick to taking your chance
Being weird don't fear enough to fall
If we all go crazy there's no normal at all
I wanna be real, I don't wanna be fake
But I still love when people say you look like Justin Timberlake
He can do it all, he can sing, he can act
He makes the girls sure positively react
Well I don't wanna do just that, I wanna be me
I wanna bring us all together like a family
and then sing all together in harmony
and then live world wide community

I used to watch the disney channel like everyone else I knew
I saw commercials for pop tarts that were blue
with purple frosting, i wanted them so bad
but plain brown sugar were the only ones we ever had
i wanted to skateboard to be like tony hawk
but i never kicked a flip and felt forever awkward
i wanted spiky hair pointed and colored green
and shoes that would grind on ledges if you know what I mean
I wanted a bigger house
a bigger room
and my own go-kart
the only thing I ever got was a cheap guitar
Now I'm rocking, rocking up the pop charts
while I'm eating blue and purple pop tarts
Playing xbox then I hit the restart
while I'm eating blue and purple pop tarts
I wanted a sony walkman like this older kid named steve
I thought my life would change with an eiffel 65 cd
I was the coolest kid, but only for a day
then I wore capri pants and people said, "You're gay"
I wanted to save the world
be found by girl
and hang with aliens
the only thing I ever got was my weirdo friends
Now I'm rocking, rocking up the pop charts
while I'm eating blue and purple pop tarts
Playing xbox then I hit the restart
while I'm eating blue and purple pop tarts

Ride My Bike
03:12
|
|
||
I ride my bike through the city
I ride my bike don't you know
I ride my bike cause if I didn't
I really wouldn't have any old way to go
With all the cars getting packed on the subway
No slacking today I want to ride my own way
It's bringing me down when my feet are on the ground
So I'm singing this sound cause I want you to hear
That this is my life I wanna be the one to steer
I wanna make my own mistakes
cause my wheels can take me away
and bring me to you no matter where you are
How near or how far I'll find a way
I ride my bike through the city
I ride my bike don't you know
I ride my bike cause if I didn't
I really wouldn't have any old way to go
Don't need the traffic signs
Cross the double yellow lines
Speeding down the street
Makes me feel so complete
Could hit a car and die
But I'm feeling so high
Flying by in a rush
and so what if I'm gushing
blood out my brain
I don't feel the pain
I don't heel for rain
and from my soul I bleed the need for speed
and I am not the same
ooh yeah I'm a bikeriding master
ooh yeah I wanna go faster
ooh yeah I'm a bikeriding master
if I ride enough then I'll never get fatter
ooh yeah I'm a bikeriding master
get out of the office I wanna go faster
ooh yeah I'm a bikeriding master
a bikeriding master
a bikeriding master
I ride my bike through the city
Even through the rain and the snow
I ride my bike cause if I didn't
I really wouldn't have any old way to go

Not Normal
01:56
|
|
||
I am so not normal but that really is okay
That's why I don't care if you're straight bisexual or gay
As long as you have passion in your heart and what you say
Then you can be my friend today
I am so not normal but I really do not care
about the things that people think about my stupid hair
I will be Rapunzel if I want to and I will shave my head and without you
It's all about what makes you feel that you are true and maybe trying something that is brand new
I do not know what it means to be real
You can be a wild card just be ready to deal
Sure there is hate it's not great but you can rise above
There are freaks out there like us and they are ready to love
Tip top tapping cross the center stage
You can't read a book without turning the page
Living with spunk will make you
But slunking with junk will break you
There's nothing else that you can do except love your life that is up to you

Friend Please
03:08
|
|
||
When I walk down the street I smile at everything I see
and I don't know what the people are thinking of me
and if the ice cream vendor kneels to the ground
I'd say please don't drop the sno-cone let me shovel it down
Sometimes I can't handle being in a crowd
cause I know that I've got my head in the clouds
but the people in the planes are waving right back
so I believe I can lead and that's matter as a fact
I know you're probably saying what's this song all about?
Well I'll sing it right quick and then get the hell out
It's really about just nothing at all
except you never know when you're gonna fall
I know you can hear me, I know you're out there
and I hope you see my beauty, I hope that you stare
I don't know if I can attract
but I pray everyday that I'll get a call back
and maybe one day I'll be happy like that
but for now there's no doubt that I'm happy like this
and there's really nothing more I need, not much that I miss
kissing is sweet but friendship is fine
the phone works both ways baby so please pick up the line
I know you're probably saying what is the problem?
If I knew that then I wouldn't sing about it
It's really about something not so small
It's just you never know when you're gonna fall
If a snake can eat a bunch of mice
If Bob Dylan says it's alright then don't think twice
I've got this feeling inside my soul
and I've got the rock and I've got the roll
It's a long road baby and then you pay the toll
How many people quote Randy Newman in their song?
If you got the courage then sing sing along
I know you're probably saying what's this song all about?
Well I'll sing it right quick and then get the hell out
It's really about just nothing at all
except you never know when you're gonna fall
Let's put all the dogs in the east and all the cats in the west
and see which side can put up with each other the best
and do you think that we have been put up to the test
we've made fun of each other so let's poke fun at ourselves
and I'll still let you cut me down but only if you do it so well
and then maybe one day we'll destroy the concept of hell
if you go out monday nights then you know where to be
at the town hall pub with me
at the town hall pub with me
at the town hall pub with me

Make Mistakes
03:00
|
|
||
And so you know you're gonna make mistakes
It doesn't take away from what you make
And so your heart may break, the world won't wait
But the pangs of life are alright
I kissed a girl and liked it
I had my mind made up decided
This is gonna be the one for me
No other girl is gonna make me so happy
Then she told me she was taken
So heartbreaking, my dreams forsaken
I didn't think that I would ever recover
But then I got help talking to my big brother
and I know that I have got to move on
I feel I'm on a losing streak
I moved out of my own place last week
Cause I thought I was gonna move in with some friends
Its all falling through and I think I'm at the end
Its hard to be okay when things are up in the air
I guess I'll live nowhere acting like I don't care
I'm not taking things seriously like I should
But now that I see my own mistakes I think I could
Find a way to move on
Realize I'm allowed to be wrong
I am 21 I can fuck up I am young
I'll dance around prance around sing until my days are done
Do you think we have to be divine
Why not drop your guard go for a good time
But I've understood that there's a thin line
Doing what you feel really isn't always just fine

Striped Shirts
03:52
|
|
||
I like to wear striped shirts oh yeah
I bought several different colors and patterns oh yeah
It might seem like a silly useless thing to say
but I love to wear striped shirts every single day
and it doesn't bother anyone in any old way
because my friends don't judge me by the things I wear
that's a really good sign to show that they care
and I could even come dressed as a full-suit bear
and they wouldn't come attack in fact they'd pat me on the back
no matter what the trend
things are never gonna end no no
Somebody wants to fight me oh yeah
They're pushing shoving starting something oh yeah
You can knock my lights out I'll still open a door
You can sweep a series and have dirt on your own floor
You could sing your own song forevermore
well you might be able to rend
but things are never gonna end no no
even though your bones can bend
things are never gonna end no no
I'm feeling pretty sick oh yeah
I'm staying in bed all day oh yeah
Well I can't handle the taste of gingerale
I am not impressed when it goes on sale
and I feel no relief from listening to John Cale
I prefer Blowfish Hootie when I get cooties from you
But the feel good really comes from the 90s U2
and if I could drink a shake of pop to stop all this pain
then I would and I could if radiowaves were the rain
even if you've a fever to tend
things are never gonna end no no
well you might be on the mend
but things are never gonna end no no
I'm hanging out in Tokyo oh yeah
Seeing all the lights in Tokyo yeah
Well I don't know exactly where I am
that's what happens when you're tripping while you travel in Japan
you might have taken the wrong blend
but things are never gonna end
well you might be out of yen
but things are never gonna end no no
I don't have no money oh yeah
will someone pay for my drink oh yeah
you can have a pennyful of thoughts but not a dollar to your name
you can blame the CEOs but then youll just play their game
and whether you can pay or you cant i'll treat you just the same
and it doesn't matter which street that you're on
if you march to your own beat you got the feet you belong
even if you have nothing to lend
things are never gonna end no no
I met a really cute girl oh yeah
I met a really really cute girl yeah
Well how do you know how to make a move
and I'd rather say nothing and have us both find the groove
well for all of my life its never worked out
and when in youre in the situation its so easy to doubt
but without the strive to find some one who will share
who will be the other sock to make the perfect pair
well its enough to know youre trying with your soul to bare
well if you have some love to send
things are never gonna end no no

Sun Sun Sun
03:25
|
|
||
It's the sun sun sun sun sun
That can open up your heart
Make you feel you have a part
In this world that is complex
But it doesn't get me vexed
because the Earth it is the best
At everything that it does
Regardless of humans and that's because
We are tenants on this planet
If you want change you can't demand it
We have to work with what we've got
just like you loosen a tough knot
Well the world is bigger than anything you could know
Except for your own ambition, water it let it grow
we have free will we are human
but we still need to understand
We're constantly evolving
Moving forward from the start
If oxygen were a commodity
then trees would be producing off the charts
If the clouds could bill us for water
Then we'd have no livestock fodder
We claim our land
but how can we say that own it
When the dinosaurs lived here
Years before we drank our beers
But we refuse to recognize and decide to give it our own names
and then we draw the lines and fight those who step over them they're to blame
but the only lines that are clearly drawn
are the evolutionary lines and the family bond
Life is progressing forever, I hope it doesn't stop now
there's only one entity that knows how
That is the reason we're alive
We need to know why we survive
To categorize is lies
cause our whole body life and size
are constantly in motion
be attuned into the ocean
just like a fish that flocks in frenzy
feeding for the food in envy
we reach for truth
as long as we want it
we extend our thoughts
with every poem and sonnet
plus every song I get up here and sing
I break my shell just like a bird spreads wings
we have free will we are human
but we still need to understand
We are moving always, I hope it don't stop now
I wouldn't even know, how
